Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve is new Tiger Reserve in India

In July 2021, The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MEFCC) approved the conversion of the Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary fourth tiger reserve in the Rajasthan.

Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary which links Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in the Northeast & Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve on the southern side.

According to a 2018 tiger census, there are 102 tigers in three reserves -- Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in Sawai Madhopur, Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar, and Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve in Kota in the Rajasthan.

The Rajasthan has already approved shifting of chital (spotted deer) from Ghana Bird Sanctuary (Karauli) to Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve, Keoladeo National Park, and Ramgarh Vishdhari.

  • On July 5 2021, the MoEF declared India’s 52nd tiger sanctuary the Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve.
  • Location: Bundi district Rajasthan, 220 km from state capital Jaipur.
  • Capacity: can house 35 tigers.
  • Formed by: Its creation was recommended by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA)
  • Habitat for: will offer a habitat for tigers spilling out of Ranthambore.
  • Tiger reserves in Rajasthan: It will be the Fourth Tiger reserve of Rajasthan.
